My Next Course Was Opened, But I Can't Access It.

When students have subsequent courses opened, the course is added to ‘Quicklinks’ in the My Workspace section of the Student Portal. If you have multiple courses open, or completed, you may have to manually add the course to the available course list. A maximum of four courses can be available there at any given time.

First, Login to the Ashworth Community (http://community.ashworthcollege.edu) with your Email and Password, and click Student Portal.

doc1.png

Once you’re inside the Student Portal, click the ‘Lessons’ tab.

doc2.png

After you enter the ‘Lessons’ area, you’ll notice a Quicklinks bar at the top.  The Quicklinks bar can only contain up to four courses, and you can only access the lessons of the courses shown in the Quicklinks bar.

doc3.png

Sometimes, after a course has been opened, you have to manually add the new course to the Quicklinks bar. If you have four courses already showing, you will have to remove one to create space for your new course. Start by clicking the ‘Edit’ tab.

doc4.png

Clicking on the ‘Edit’ tab will take you into My Workspace. In the My Workspace section, you have the ability to customize your Quicklinks tabs. There will be two boxes. The left-hand box will contain the available courses; the right-hand box will contain courses that are available but hidden (only courses in the left-hand box are accessible). New courses are sometimes automatically put in the hidden section. It’s a good idea to check your My Workspace for new course availability before contacting a support department.

doc5.png

If a newly opened course is added to the My Hidden Sites section, simply move it in the Top 3 Sites section. This will add the course to your Quicklinks bar, and give you access to the course materials. Please note that if there are four or more courses showing already, you will have to move it to the My Hidden Sites section. There cannot be more than four courses in the Quicklinks bar. If there are more than four courses in the left-hand box, only the top four will show in the Quicklinks bar.

To move a course from My Hidden Sites, simply click the course you want, and then click the ‘left facing arrow’. For example, I will move EN130.1.1 English Composition II.

doc10.png

Notice the course is now inside the left-hand box under The Top 3 Sites.  Make sure the course you need is within the top four. If it’s not in the top four, simply click the course, and click the ‘up arrow’ on the left side of the screen until it is. Remember to click Update Preferences.

doc6.png

Once the course is successfully moved and updated, click the Home button at the top left corner. This will take you back to your Student Portal.

doc7.png

You should notice that EN130.1.1 English Composition II is now available.

Why Is There A Discrepancy Between The Student Portal and Sakai?

$
0
0

The discrepancies are sometimes due to retakes that you've taken. The scores for the retakes will only count towards the final grade if you did not pass the first attempt. Since you passed the first attempts on the exams that have been retaken, the additional scores will not count. The scores listed under the "Grades" tab in the Student Portal are correct.

Additionally, the written section of an assignment may not be reflected in the sakai grade, because the instructor has not graded yet. The student portal will eventually show the accurate and final grade, consisting of all sections. We encourage our students to wait until the student portal grade shows, and give the appropriate amount of time for hand graded sections (7-10 business days).

Thanks!
